It's Been A While

Hello everyone, I know it has been quite some time since I updated last, but to make it up this post will have a lot of great indie music that you should consider for the holiday season.
First up is Gross Magic, they are kind of like MGMT on the edge of control. Driving synthesizer bass lines, with drugged out vocals make for a great soundtrack for a great night out. Check out Teen Jamz EP here. Also the best bonus track "Yesterdays" for a free download here.
Looking for something that makes you want to rock out? Check out Hypatia Lake's newest album Ouroboros here. It is totally kick ass, the basic necessity of Rock 'n' Roll. Just remember that without the roll there would be no rock.
The New Division is a band that is kind of an 80s indie pop-rock throwback. Their latest album Shadows is super catchy so you should definitely check it out here. I don't really know what else to say about them so go and listen to it yourself.
Next up is People Get Ready. This band is really cool, awesome guitar work and cool jazz-pop drum rhythms make up their newest self-titled EP. Check it out here and get ready to be taken away.
Salem is kind of my new crush. I freakin love their newest album King Night. It has a little of everything, it's mostly instrumental hip-hop mixed with some dubstep and epic-ness. You can listen to it here for free none the less.
Last but not least is Wye Oak's new covers 7" with "Strangers"(The Kinks cover) and "Mother"(Danzig cover).  I really think that the Mother cover is one of the best covers I've heard in a long time. Check them out here. I would put the video on here, but it is sponsored by Starbucks, a corporation I do not support.
I will be working on my top albums of the year list in the upcoming weeks, so I might not post again until that time.

Pyschedelectronica A.K.A. Elcetrodelica

Exitmusic is a really cool band that has a new EP out called From Silence. The synths are quite dramatic combined with the amazing vocals makes for some epic music. Check out some of their tracks here and then go out to buy this EP because it is awesome.
Now more on this Pyschedelectronica/Electrodelica front of music; Peaking Lights is a great new band that I just came across. I highly recommend their album 936. This is such an awesome spacey yet really well constructed album. The closest comparison I can make is something like Panda Bear meets a California beach maybe some Gold Panda as well. Listen to it here and have a great trip.
Star Slinger is a catchy band that I would personally put under the category of new-disco. Their latest album is called Volume 1 and it reminds me of Passion Pit with really good sampling. Check out their collection here and scroll down to find the album. Also watch the cool vid of "Mornin'" (720p highly recommended).

Last is going a totally different direction with Thieving Irons. Their debut album is called This Midnight Hum. I have to say that I would really like to here these guys on the radio. Their rock 'n' roll is unique enough to distinguish themselves into the public eye. Their latest single "So Long" has actually been featured on KEXP a great Seattle based radio station that focuses on independent music. Check it out here.

New Atlas Sound + Summer Camp

Today is Tuesday, so you know what that means: New releases by Atlas Sound and Summer Camp.
Atlas Sound's new album titled Parallax, is an intimate elecrodelic groovy set of tracks. It is a wonderful journey listening to this album, definitely one of the better releases this year so you had best check it out. Find it here.
Next up is a band called Summer Camp. Their latest, Welcome To Condale, is a great indie bubblegum rock album; very upbeat and energetic. It's too bad that it has been released this week instead of at the end of summer. Check out the happening single "Better Off Without You" below, and the entire album here.

Other notable releases include Cass McCombs and a Gold Panda/DJ Kicks mixtape/compilation.

Lots of Music

Some great new stuff to bring to you all. First off is Brilliant Colors with their second album Again and Again. They are another great surfer girl band that reminds me of Dum Dum Girls and Veronica Falls. Find it here.
Next up is the awesome band Phantogram with their new EP release Nightlife. I really like this band and the new EP doesn't disappoint. This is the kind of pop that should be in the top 40 but until it is you can listen to it here.
Pictureplane is a great electronic band that reminds me of Starfucker. They just came out with a new album in July called Thee Physical, but I also really enjoy their 2009 release Dark Rift. Check out the new album here and their best song (in my opinion) below.

One of my new favorites has got to be Shimmering Stars with their debut album Violent Hearts. They have a cool lo-fi indie sound that is vaguely like the band Cults. It's very cool stuff so check it out here.
And of course one of my favorite bands has come out with a new EP titled Tarot Classics. I'm talking about Surfer Blood. If you don't know them you must check out Astro Coast as well as the new EP. They chilled their sound out a little bit more for this four song set which makes for better Fall listening. "I'm Not Ready" is my favorite track off of it. Listen to them all here.
